Brian Recer Life Story

Not much is said about a good man. Maybe it is because he loves more deeply than others by actions rather than words. Perhaps it is because he gives and gives without asking for anything in return. It is because he shoulders heavy responsibility and burdens for others while making it look light? A good man does all of this and more; a good man deserves praise and affirmation for his life and deeds. Mr. Brian Keith Recer was a good man, and like any good man, lived a good, wholesome life.

On a warm Thursday, July 23, 1959, Brian was born to his delighted parents, Billy and Linda Gail. He was born in McKinney, but grew up in Garland, Texas with his siblings, Kevin, Lisa, and Beverly. As a child, Brian loved to play and watch sports. His love of sports grew even as Brian grew. As an adult, Brian enjoyed watching NASCAR, football, baseball, and just about every other sport there was on television. Brian went to college and graduated with an Associates degree. He used his degree to work with Information Technology (IT). Brian became an IT designer for 17 years where he designed the layout of various systems and programs for the benefit of others. When he wasn’t working, Brian was spending time with his family. For a while it was just Brian and his daughter, Kelcie Recer, who was so special to him. Their family grew on July 16, 2011 when Brian married Tammy, who stood by his side in life and in love. Tammy’s son, Chase joined in with the growing, loving family. Brian greatly enjoyed family get-togethers with all of his children, grandchildren, siblings, and parents. He really had a love for everyone he met and kept life-long friends. Some of these friends were members with him at First Baptist Church of Garland where Brian was a member for 10 years. Brian had a very close relationship with God which showed in his love for others. Along with his love of others, Brian loved to laugh and have a good time with others. His favorite time to get people together was always Christmas Eve. However, he also had a good time while he was on the beach. Brian loved to go on vacations any where there was a beach: Mexico, Hawaii, Florida, Alabama, and even Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. Brian lived a very full life of love and laughter.

If love alone could keep people with us, Brian would not have left. However, on Monday, January 29, 2018, Brian Keith Recer passed away in Plano, Texas to the sorrow and grief of his family. Brian’s life and love survives on through his wife of seven years, Tammy Recer; his daughter, Kelcie Recer; his step-son, Chase Hankins and his wife, Caitlin; his grandchildren, Alora Lily Hankins and Jeffery Cade Hankins; his mother, Linda Gail Perry and her husband, Jerry; his brother, Kevin Recer; his sister, Beverly Thompson and her husband, Tommy; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Brian is preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray Recer, and his sister, Lisa Anderson.

The funeral service in honor of Mr. Brian Keith Recer will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Garland, Texas at 11:00 AM. Mr. Brian Recer will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Climax, Texas.
