Life Story

Frank Tijerina Mosqueda was born in Rosebud, Texas on November 29, 1948 to Salomon and Emilia Mosqueda. Frank is preceded in death by his son, James Edwin Mosqueda; his parents, Salomon and Emilia Mosqueda; and his brothers Trinidad, Joe, Modesto and Salomon Mosqueda, Jr. He is survived by his wife and best friend of over 30 years, Karen Mitchell Mosqueda; his daughter, Kellie and her husband, Gilbert Tamez; his grandchildren, Taylor, Travis, Allison and Ashley Tamez; his step-daughter, Sherece Rhodes and her husband, Jim; his step-son, Donovan Underwood and his wife, Nicole; his step-grandchildren Sydney, Ethan, Luke, Nicholas and Sophia; his brothers Modesto, John T. and Jesse Mosqueda; and his sisters Virginia Olivarez, Helen Duarte, Faye Rangel, Eleanor Foster, and Rosemary Gomez.

Frank attended Rosebud Elementary for 1st and 2nd grade. In 1957, the family relocated to Dallas, Texas where he attended St. Mary of Carmel Catholic School. In 1961, the family moved to Oak Cliff, and he went to attend Lida Hooe Elementary, W.E. Greiner Junior High, and, in 1967, he graduated from Sunset High School. During Frank’s life, he resided in Dallas, Texas; St. Peters, Missouri; Mineral Wells, Texas; and Balch Springs, Texas.

Frank had many accomplishments in his life. He served as an altar boy at a young age at St. Patrick Catholic Church. He attended Texas Barber and Beauty College as well as El Centro College. Frank served our country in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1970 to 1974 while doing a tour in the Vietnam War.

He worked as a server at the fine dining Brennan’s Restaurant and at Dixie House. Frank also owned an ice cream shop, worked at USPS, and he retired from Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages/AT&T.

Frank had many hobbies and part-time jobs after retirement which included taking care of a ranch, owning his own green plant company, and becoming a manager at Church’s Chicken. He loved to stay busy. He loved plants, people and animals. Some of his favorite things to do were to dance, horseback ride, swim, snow ski, and travel. He enjoyed trips to the casinos, horse races, and pool parties. His favorite artists were Jenni Rivera, Juan Gabriel, and Rosio Durcal. He loved listening to Tejano music at a high volume. Frank liked watching CNN, America’s Funniest Videos, and Spanish novelas. When his kids were young, he owned a boat and loved boating and water skiing on the weekends. Some of his favorite places to travel were Mexico, Canada, Ireland and Germany.

Frank enjoyed hosting foreign exchange students and opening his home to family and friends.

He was generous, genuine, kind, loyal, and loving. Frank was also a quiet, reserved, private person. Frank fought Parkinson’s disease with such determination and grit. To the sorrow and heartache of his family and friends, Frank passed away on December 14, 2019 at the age of 71 years old. He will be missed by all that had the honor of making memories with him.

Love you with all our hearts until we meet again. The honor and pleasure have been ours.
