Frankie Cunningham Life Story

Frankie Ozell Cunningham was born on June 28th 1923 in Denton County, Texas near Bartonville, and made her homegoing on October 16th 2019. She married the love of her life Alvin Heath Cunningham ("Major"), on December 17th 1939 in Love County Oklahoma and they enjoyed 72 beautiful years together until Major’s passing February 1st 2012.

Ozell and Major moved from Denton County to Dallas, and in 1950 bought a home on West Amherst Avenue in the Love Field area where they both lived out their days.

She went to work for Texas Instruments in 1954 and retired from there in 1979 after 25 faithful years.

She always enjoyed cooking, sewing, yard work, watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, visiting with friends and family, but she mostly enjoyed her sweetheart, Major. She was a faithful church attender for more than five decades at Royal Haven Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her father William Marion Baty and mother Bertie Briggs Baty, husband Major Cunningham, and best friends, sister and bother-n-law, Charlene and Charles Carruth.

Ozell is survived by her son Jimmy Cunningham and wife LaVerne of Yantis, Texas, granddaughter Genie Burnell and husband Steve of Phoenix Arizona, grandsons Kenny Cunningham of Abilene, Texas, James Maples of Lewisville, Texas, and Johnny Maples of Yantis, Texas, and the family would like to give special recognition to her niece and adoptive granddaughter Stephanie Carruth who was the “boots on the ground” for the family and who tirelessly aided and loved her Auntie Ozell. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew, Shirley Carruth McGough, Diane Carruth Wysocki, and Larry Carruth.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
