Gonzalo Ponce, was a kind, funny, and loving father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved to laugh. Gonzalo was born on May 6, 1939 in Zacatecas, Mexico, and on May 24, 2019, he was called Home. He was affectionately called Ponce by those who were lucky enough to know him. He was one of twelve children born unto Angelita and Francisco Ponce.
Gonzalo was extremely proud of his large family and their accomplishments. He had a special place in his heart for his great-grandchildren, as he often enjoyed watching the children play at sports during family get-togethers, and would love to nickname his grandchildren. Gonzalo had a way of being hospitable to everyone around him. His generosity was known to all, as he would invite you to his house with a plateful of food, and homemade salsa. Gonzalo loved Chinese food, and enjoyed traveling.
Gonzalo leaves behind his loving and caring children, Arcelia Lopez, Leticia Ponce, Rocio Ponce, Arturo Ponce, Yolanda Ponce, and Ruben Ponce. He will be missed by their spouses: Manuel Lopez, Don Gurley, Dora Ponce, and Frank Serrata. His presence will be missed by his grandchildren: Brenda, Adriana, and Analee Lopez, Erica Hutchings, Rosie Garcia, Mayra Mata, Mia and Dylia Ponce, Samantha and Celeste Ponce, and Ethan Ponce, Kalel, and Joseph Serrata. He will be especially missed by his great-grand children: Caitlyn Hutchings, Ozzy and Olivia Kroll, Alexander Martinez, Leon and Ivan Mata, Caleb Dorsey, Matthew and Sarai Gutierrez, Noe Carmelo Ponce, and Daniel Salas. He is survived by his brothers Ruben, Felimon, Enrique, and Luis Manuel, and his sister Ester, Cuca, Conse Ponce.
He is welcomed in Heaven by his dutiful wife of 59 years, Maria Carmen Ponce, his brother Eugenio Ponce, his sister Estolia Ponce, and his parents, Angelita and Francisco Ponce.
