James McLeod

James Ralph McLeod was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 1925 in Dothan Alabama. His loving parents, Charles and Kathleen McLeod had a lot to be thankful for that year. Ralph grew up loving family and the outdoors. He played football in school. Ralph graduated from Auburn University in 1950. He was drafted at the end of World War II and enjoyed seeing the world. The family was again thankful that the war ended before he saw combat.

Ralph was always thankful for meeting Jean. He was married 66 happy years to the love of his life, Jean Faye McLeod. Together they loved and raised their two daughters and their son. Jean went to be with the Lord last year and no one is surprised that he went to join her soon after. His life was mainly defined by his love of his Lord and Savior and his love for his family. Ralph taught Sunday School for many years. He loved teaching the bible to others and his church.

Ralph was thankful for a career that he not only could support his family but also enjoy. He worked for WR Grace Company in management for 34 years. During those 34 years he worked in Montgomery Alabama; Atlanta, Georgia; Minneapolis Minnesota; and Dallas, Texas. The family moved to Dallas in 1975 where they became active in church and a member of Brookhaven Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf.

Surrounded by his family, James Ralph McLeod passed away peacefully to join his wife in heaven on December 1, 2018. Ralph is survived by his daughter, Kathi Smith and her husband Bill Smith; his daughter Susan Sassin and her husband John Sassin; his son Mark McLeod and his wife Linda McLeod and his sister, Laura O’Brien. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, his dear wife and his brother, Charles McLeod.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Garden of Wisdom of Restland Memorial Park. Sam Underwood will officiate.

The family is thankful for the life and legacy of James Ralph McLeod.
