Jesse Ramirez Life Story

Jesse Hernandez Ramirez, age 78, passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas on November 9, 2018 after a long illness. He was born on August 8, 1940 in Keller, Texas and lived much of his life in Fort Worth, Texas.

Jesse graduated from Laneri High School in 1959 and then served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Saint Paul (CA-73) during the Vietnam era. He later became a master machinist for aerospace components and worked at Bell Helicopter for nearly 25 years, retiring as a member of UAW 218. He was later a member of the American Legion Hale-Combest Post 315 of Wylie, Texas.

He is remembered most by his daughters as a tireless provider with a gentle, generous heart and quiet strength. He is remembered by all as a gifted amateur guitarist who loved Willie, Johnny Cash, Elvis, and the blues. He was a loyally frustrated Cowboys/Rangers/Mavericks fan and fisherman who didn't eat fish. Everyone who knew him has countless memories of his sidesplitting humor.

Left to honor Jesse and remember his love are his three children, Rebecca Ramirez, Maria Ramirez and Sonya Suttles her husband James Suttles; grandchildren Derek Goss and Joseph Ramirez; siblings Father Jose Ramirez, S.M. and Juanita Plumb; and nieces Karen Cummings and Kathy Dreyer and her husband Steve Dreyer, and a number of beloved cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Andres Ramirez, his mother, Benita Ramirez, and two of his beloved siblings, Mary Gamage and Mona Cummings.

He will be laid to rest with military funeral honors on Tuesday, November 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, TX 75211. A separate celebration of life for family and friends will be announced at a future time.
