John Hart Life Story

Frank Hart, Sr. died peacefully Tuesday, May 15, 2018 surrounded by his family. Frank was born April 1, 1925 in Caddo Mills, Texas to Charles and Annie Hart where he was the youngest of nine children.

Frank graduated from Greenville High School in 1943. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. In early 1944, he was wounded in action in the Philippines and received the Purple Heart. In 1946, he enrolled in East Texas State Teachers College, which is now known as Texas A&M Commerce. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in 1949 and received his Master of Education degree in 1951. On July 12, 1947, he married the love of his life, Mickie Hunt. They have four children Frank Jr. and his wife, Martha, Bill and his wife, Kathy, Kim, and Mike and his wife Cindy, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Frank went on to teach and coach at New Castle High School from 1949 to 1952 where he helped lead his football team to be State Finalists in 1951. Frank Hart moved to Dallas, Texas in 1952 and worked for the Park Cities YMCA for a brief time before being recruited by Christ the King School. He coached and taught at Christ the King School from 1952 to 1963 where he led his 1962 football team to the City Championship. During his time at Christ the King, he was also a Scout Master to many of his students. The National Catholic Committee on Scouting awarded him the St. George Emblem for his significant and outstanding contribution to the spiritual development of Catholic youth through scouting. After leaving Christ the King in 1963, he went on to running his own restaurant, but coaching and teaching were never far from his heart. After retiring from the restaurant business in the 90’s, he went back to teaching through the substitute system at Dallas Independent School District.

Frank is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mickie; his grandson, Michael Ezell; his parents, Charles and Annie Hart; his eight siblings Mildred, Ed, Emma, Raymond “Buster,” Ruth, Sinnette, Ida Merle, and CT “Bub.”

A Rosary will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 5:00 PM at Christ the King Catholic Church located at 8017 Preston Rd., Dallas, TX 75225. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Christ the King. Mr. Frank Hart, Sr. will be laid to rest immediately following the Funeral Mass at Calvary Hill Cemetery located at 3235 Lombardy Ln., Dallas, TX 75220. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your favorite charity.

The family of Frank Hart, Sr. would like to thank many who have assisted Frank and his loved ones. Appreciation goes out to Joy, Mary, Grace, Sheila, Lorna, Anita, Sister Dimitrias, Beth, and Joan who work at Hillcrest House. Gratitude is sent to Maria, Lainie, and Laura at VNA Hospice. Recognition also goes out to Tonya, Penny, and Julianna with LVN.
