John Moon, Jr., known in his younger days as Johnny Luna, was born on March 6, 1938 in Dallas, Texas to John and Herminia Moon. He grew up in Dallas and graduated from Crozier Tech High School. After proudly serving his country for four years in the U.S. Navy on the USS Coral Sea, John couldn’t wait to get back to his beloved family and Dallas. John loved to exercise, play golf, dance, and watch sports, especially the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. He also loved being outdoors and maintaining a beautiful flower-filled yard. To the sorrow of his family, John passed away suddenly on September 4, 2019.
John joins in heaven his parents and his siblings, Andrew Moon, Nancy Behre, Hortencia Perez and Bob Moon. He leaves behind his son Dr. John Moon, III and wife Jennifer; daughter, Vanessa Moon Baker and husband Steve and their mother, Elva Moon. He also leaves behind grandchildren Makenzie Moon, Nathan Moon, Chloe Moon, Brendan Baker and Ryan Baker and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation and Rosary will be on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 5 – 8 pm at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Calvary Hill North Chapel at 10 am.
John’s fun loving and witty personality will be dearly missed.
