Martha King, 83, a long time resident of Del Rio, Texas, passed away at C.C. Young Senior Care in Dallas early Friday morning, March 9th, 2018 due to complications arising from Alzheimer's Disease. Born Maria Martha Ludivina Flores on April 14, 1934, in Eagle Pass, Texas to Vicente and Maria (Maruca) Flores of Eagle Pass, the oldest of eight. She attended Eagle Pass High School, then married Frank King in 1953. In 1976, after her husband’s military career and a few years near family in Eagle Pass, they found permanent residence in Del Rio. Martha, a devoted daughter, mother, and grandmother cared for her parents before their death, then grandchildren and great grandchildren during extended stays at grandma's house. She was loved by all and known as everyone’s Grandma. She instilled importance of family, especially grandparents in the lives of grandchildren.
Martha is survived by her children and their spouses: Jeffrey and Elizabeth, Frank and Yolanda, Bernard and Norma, Teresa and Michael. Grandchildren and their spouses: Jessica and Trey, Richard, Renee, Andrea Summer and Steven, Sierra, Krystal and Dave, Victoria Nicole, William and Yazmin, Kristopher, Cadence and Caleigh. Great grandchildren: Zoey, Lucas, Alex, Aidan, Aubree, Hailey, Kalliegh, Kendall, Slayton, Sterling, Ava, Ian and Malakai. Siblings and their spouses: Vicente (Chacho) and Herlinda Flores, Eva Woitazek, Dolly and Daniel Riley, Mary Mott, Rudy and Gloria Flores, Janie and Frank Gilmer, and Raymond and Letty Flores. As well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends too numerous to mention.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents Vicente and Maria (Maruca) Flores and her grandson, Sterling Knight. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 307 E. Losoya Street, Del Rio, Texas on Friday, April 20th at 10 am. Flowers and memorials can be sent there. A reception following services will be held at her granddaughter’s home, Jessica Leyendecker, in Del Rio. Burial will be held the following day on Saturday, April 21st at Our Lady of Refuge Cemetery in Eagle Pass, Texas at 9:30 am.
Martha was a devout Catholic, always praying the rosary, as well as a loving devoted mother and grandmother to all children who had the good fortune to know her. She will be missed by all.
