Alice Garcia Life Story

Alice Garcia, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, the city where her life began on September 1, 1953. She was born to her devoted parents, James Enrique Meza and Dolores Meza, who instilled in her the values of faith, family, and service that guided her life.

Alice spent much of her early years attending Catholic school, where she developed a strong faith and a quiet sense of discipline. Her education helped shape her thoughtful nature and sense of duty, qualities that became evident in every role she later took on. She went on to attend Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, where she completed her high school education and built friendships and memories that remained meaningful to her. Determined to continue learning and to prepare herself for a stable career, Alice enrolled at Dallas College at the Brookhaven Campus and later attended secretarial school. Her education equipped her with skills that would serve her well for decades.

Alice devoted the majority of her working life to her role as an executive secretary. She took pride in her work. She approached her responsibilities with professionalism and care. Her work ethic was a reflection of who she was as a person, steady, dependable, and quietly strong. In addition to her professional life, Alice gave her time to serve others. For several years, she lovingly tended St. Monica’s daycare on Sundays, caring for children with patience, warmth, and genuine affection. She found fulfillment in helping families and supporting her church community in any way she could.

On April 2, 1972, Alice married the love of her life, Roger Garcia Sr., in Monterrey, Mexico. They welcomed their first son into the world the following year. From that moment on, Alice dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family. As their family grew, so did her joy. Their home became a place filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Alice was a devoted wife and a nurturing mother who always made sure her children felt supported, cared for, and deeply loved.

While Alice cherished being a mother, becoming a grandmother brought her a special kind of happiness. Known affectionately as “Wela” by her grandchildren, she embraced that role with pure joy. She delighted in spending time with them, listening to their stories, caring for them, and creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took immense pride in watching her family grow across generations. Later, becoming a great grandmother only deepened her sense of gratitude and fulfillment.

Alice had many interests and simple pleasures that brought her happiness. She loved thrifting at St. Vincent’s and Thrift Giant, always excited by the possibility of finding something special. She enjoyed traveling to WinStar to play the slot machines, treating those trips as small adventures. Gardening was another passion of hers, and proudly growing anything she could get to thrive. Alice cherished time spent with her sisters, often driving them around and enjoying their company, conversations, and laughter. These moments meant the world to her.

Cooking was one of the ways Alice showed love. She was known for preparing delicious meals for her family and was always happy to cook whatever they requested. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and connection, where family gathered and memories were made. Alice also loved arts and crafts and sewing, finding joy and creativity in working with her hands. She had a gentle, creative spirit that showed through everything she did.

Alice was a deeply selfless person. She was always willing to help others, often without being asked and without expecting anything in return. Her kindness was genuine and steady, and she touched many lives through small, thoughtful acts. She also shared her home with a gray tabby cat named Bob, whom she later discovered was actually female. With her trademark warmth and humor, Alice never changed the name, loving Bob just the same.

Alice passed away on February 4, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by the city and family that shaped her life. She is survived by her beloved husband, Roger Garcia Sr.; her children, Roger Garcia Jr., Joshua Garcia, Sr., Rachel Garcia, and Rebekah Garcia; her grandchildren, Isaac Garcia, Alex Garcia, Sabrina Garcia, Joshua Garcia Jr., Jasmine Garcia, Anthony Gonzalez, Andrew Gonzalez, Synai Florence, Sarahi Florence, Lluvy Jackson, Lathan Jackson, and Leyah Jackson; her great grandchildren, Genevieve Rose Alvarado, Mathew Garcia, Dawn Gonzalez, Miley Gonzalez, and Symeria Hogg;  her sisters, Lucy Cardona, Hope Meza, and Dolores Rodriguez; and her brothers, Lupe Meza, Henry Meza, and Javi Meza.
