Arista Lagunez was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where her journey began as a testament to the power of love and faith. Adopted into the warm and nurturing home of Viola Bernice (Platt) and Wayne Andrew Pittman, Arista grew up surrounded by the strong values of a loving Christian family. Her father, Wayne, was a dedicated minister, and her brother followed in his footsteps, embracing a life of service to the church. Their home, filled with joy and spiritual devotion, was the bedrock of Arista's upbringing.
As a child, Arista experienced the comforts of small-town life in Ardmore, Oklahoma, where she first learned the importance of community, compassion, and faith. Later, the family relocated to Hutchinson, Kansas, where Arista completed her high school education. Even as a young girl, her brilliance was evident to everyone around her. She was not just a bright student but also a generous classmate, often going out of her way to assist others with their studies, reflecting the kindness and empathy she would carry throughout her life.
Arista pursued higher education at Manhattan Christian College, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in psychology and spanish. Her academic journey didn't stop there; she went on to achieve a Master's degree from Kansas City University. Their connection was instant, and they quickly fell in love, bonding over their shared beliefs and commitment to family. Together, they built a life centered around their faith, love, and mutual respect. On February 14 2003, they united their families, becoming a family of six with Saul's two children. Arista embraced Saul's children with open arms, loving them as if they were her own, and the blended family thrived in an environment of love and support.
Arista had a deep affinity for Latin American culture, especially its traditional, family-oriented values. During her college years, she studied Spanish and later lived in Latin America for a time to immerse herself in the language and culture fully. Her love for the region was profound, with Costa Rica and the beautiful beaches of Mexico holding a special place in her heart. She also had a deep connection to Saul's hometown in southern Mexico, where they had visit, enjoying the vibrant culture and close-knit community.
As life progressed, Arista faced the challenge of disability with the same grace and strength that had characterized her entire life. Though it was difficult for someone as active as she had always been, she remained deeply involved in her family's life. Her four children, ever devoted, helped care for her when Saul was at work, demonstrating the love and support that Arista had always given them.
