In Loving Memory of Beatriz Sanchez Damian
August 20, 1941 – April 5, 2025
“Her hands were rarely still, her heart always full. Her legacy is stitched into the lives of those she loved.”
Beatriz Sanchez Damian, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and talented seamstress, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 20, 1941, in Monterrey, Mexico, Beatriz was the beloved daughter of Felipe Sanchez and Herminia Olivo. At the age of 14, she made the courageous journey to the United States, settling in Corpus Christi, Texas. She quickly grew to love the coastal city, especially its beautiful ocean, which brought her comfort and joy throughout her life.
Beatriz spent 48 years working as a seamstress, pouring her heart and creativity into her craft. She had a deep passion for sewing, knitting, and embroidery, often creating beautiful pieces.
Above all, Beatriz was a devoted and loving mother to her five children, whom she cherished with all her heart.
Her faith was the foundation of her life, she was a God-fearing woman who found great joy in serving others and sharing her love for the Lord. As a Sunday school teacher at Assembly of God in Dallas, she touched the lives of countless children with her kindness, patience, and unwavering belief. Her dedication to missionary work was recognized when she was honored as Woman of the Year two years in a row for raising the most funds in the state, an accomplishment that reflected both her generosity and her deep commitment to her faith.
She is survived by her children: Dolores Ybarra, David Abner, Marcos Garza (and his wife, Debra), and Mary Garza De La Rosa. Her legacy also lives on through her sisters, Noemi Martinez, Mary Ybarra, and Josie Sanchez; her brother, Rudy Sanchez; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Victoriano Damian; her parents; her son, Johnny William Abner; her brothers, Felipe Sanchez, Noele Sanchez, George Sanchez, and Carlos Sanchez; and her sister, Isabell Sanchez, and Sueanna Sanchez.
Beatriz's life was a beautiful example of strength, grace, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
