Bessie Jordan (Harris) was born on March 18, 1947, in Jackson, Mississippi, and entered eternal rest on October 24, 2025.
Bessie was a woman of steadfast faith and joyful spirit. A long-time member of Grace Bible Church, she faithfully served in the Hospitality Ministry, where she was lovingly known as an "All-Star" volunteer-always ready to lend a hand, share a smile, or learn something new. Her warm greetings, radiant smile, and heartfelt hugs reflected the love of Christ and uplifted everyone around her.
After moving from Mississippi when she was a teenager, Bessie made her home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she lovingly raised her two daughters, Angela and Rochelle. She dedicated more than thirty years of service to the United States Postal Service, from which she retired before relocating to Dallas, Texas.
Especially in her later years, Bessie was an Ambassador for Christ-sharing His love with family, friends, and even strangers who soon became friends. Whether speaking with an executive or the person serving her lunch, she had a way of making you feel truly seen, valued, and reminded that you were loved by Christ. Her life was a living testimony of grace, compassion, and steadfast faith.
Bessie's vibrant personality, joyful laughter, and "Classic Nana" stories will be fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her. She was particular and honest, yet always loving-leaving behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and faith that continues to inspire.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rosie Lee Harris; her sisters, Josephine Terrell and Ora Deloris Clemons; and her brother, William Howze.
Bessie is survived by her daughters, Angela (Gerald McAdoo II) and Rochelle Jordan; her grandchildren, Gerald "Trey" McAdoo III, Janae McAdoo, and Eunique Criss; along with a host of loving relatives and dear friends.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at Grace Bible Church on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11 am CST.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Special Missions Ministry at Grace Bible Church, in memory of Bessie's enduring passion for sharing the Gospel of Christ.
Though she will be deeply missed, Bessie's faith, joy, and example will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her. The family extends their deepest gratitude for the many prayers, messages, and expressions of love that have brought comfort and peace during this time.
