Charlotte Gump Life Story

Charlotte Ann Dabney Gump, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 20, 2022, at the age of 102. All of her children were at her bedside singing hymns, resting in the security that she was entering into the arms of Jesus. She is preceded in death by her husband Harry Allen Gump, Sr, her parents, and her sister Carolyn Dabney Hall.

Charlotte was born in Breckenridge, TX, to Arthur Franklin Dabney and Marguerite Smith Dabney on October 21, 1920.

While growing up, her family eventually made their home in Harlingen, TX where she met and married Harry Allen Gump in 1951. After six years in Harlingen, they moved to Dallas, TX. Charlotte is remembered for her active lifestyle of volunteering every week with Highland Park United Methodist Church in programs where she read to children in the Dallas ISD schools and in later years, at Youth Believing In Change. She and Harry delivered food with Meals On Wheels, and they both taught adults to read through an adult literacy program. She volunteered weekly at the prayer tower at HPUMC, where she prayed for those who called in for prayer. She was an active participant in Bible Study Fellowship for years. She will be remembered for her artistic talents and leaves behind beautiful art and sculptures for her family to treasure. She famously baked bread weekly and loved playing tennis and golf with Harry and their friends. She will be greatly missed by her family. The graveside service will be held on January 6, 2023, at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243 at 12:00. p.m. A memorial will be held at Presbyterian Village North, 8600 Skyline Dr, Dallas, TX 75243 at 1:30 p.m. in the main auditorium. A reception will follow afterwards.

Charlotte is survived by her five children and their spouses - Robert Gump (Linda Perry), Richard Gump (Carol Clay), Mary Gump Hennighausen (Fred Hennighausen), Bill Gump (Lauren Gump), and H. Allen Gump (Kim Gump). She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and their spouses - Dabney Gump Jungerman, Bob Gump (Karen), Megan Gump (Alex H.), Brice Gump (Mireia), Chris Gump (Jess), Katy Hennighausen Rose (Kristian), Anne Hennighausen Alley (Jason), Julie Hennighausen Singleton (Taylor), Leigh Ann Gump Willis (Cory), Shep Gump (Tara), John Gump (Erika), Carolyn Gump Ferguson (David), Lauren Gump Tharpe (Bryan), and Allyson Gump Yost (Brent).

She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren.
