Celebrating the Life of Daniel Lee Molina
March 15, 2016 - August 3, 2025
On March 15, 2016, in Irving, Texas, the world was blessed with the arrival of Daniel Lee Molina, a happy, vibrant little boy whose smile could light up any room. On August 3, 2025, at just 9 years old, Daniel passed into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of joy, courage, and love far greater than his years.
A Joyful Spirit and Perfect Heart
From the very beginning, Daniel was known for his beaming smile and sunny outlook on life. No matter the circumstances, he radiated positivity and resilience. Even through medical treatments and surgery, Daniel would wake up smiling-his courage inspiring everyone around him. He was, as his family often said, "a perfect, obedient, happy child with a huge heart," a truly angelic soul who lived to love and be loved. His mom fondly called him her "Sweet Boy," a name that perfectly described his tender nature and gentle spirit.
A Love for Water and Adventure
Daniel's happy place was always near water. He loved swimming so much that, through the generosity of Make-A-Wish, an above-ground pool was built just for him. Whether it was pools, fountains, or the ocean, Daniel found pure delight in every splash and ripple. His joyful laughter was never louder than when he was swimming or exploring anything aquatic.
Bright and Curious
Daniel was a rising 4th grader at Carrollton Elementary School, where he was deeply loved by teachers and classmates alike. He adored school-reading and math came naturally to him, but what he loved most was simply "being with his kids," his affectionate way of talking about his classmates. He couldn't wait for school to begin again each fall, excited for new adventures in learning. His boundless imagination reflected his zest for life.
Favorite Things and Shared Joys
Daniel's heart was full of joy for the things he loved most. He was a big fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, SpongeBob SquarePants, Super Mario, and Jimmy Neutron. He could watch his favorite shows-SpongeBob, Sonic, Turning Red, and Fairly Oddparents-over and over, giggling with delight every time. One of his greatest joys was playing video games with his dad; just last week, Daniel and his dad celebrated beating a SpongeBob game together, an achievement that brought him endless excitement and pride.
His family often teased him with nicknames-sometimes calling him "Dan the Man" or "Daniel the Fastest"-because of his playful nature and boundless energy. His joyful presence left a lasting impression on everyone who met him.
Loved by All
Daniel's sweetness and kind heart drew people to him. He was adored not only by his family but by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His gentle spirit, endless positivity, and unwavering bravery made him unforgettable.
Cherished Family
Daniel's life was filled with love from his devoted family. He is survived by his loving parents Sydney and Andrew Alcala, and Cedric Molina and Bryahnna Ornelas; his grandparents Debora and Albert Kohutek, Wayne Furgerson, Cedric J. and Claudia Molina, Edward Alcala Sr., and Elizabeth Orantes; his great grandmother Pauline Alcala; his uncles Whitney Furgerson, Kevin Molina, Eric Molina, Edward Alcala, Jr., Antonio Alcala; his aunts April Rodriguez, Ali Kohutek, and Lucy Johnson; and his cousin Atticus Ringham.
He now joins in heaven his beloved grandmothers Sandra Molina and Patricia A. Galvan, and his uncle Dimas Rodriguez, who welcome him with open arms.
A Lasting Legacy
Though his time here was far too short, Daniel's impact is eternal. He taught those around him how to smile through hardships, to dream big, to love deeply, and to find joy in life's simple moments. Daniel's light will never fade-it will shine forever in the hearts of his family, his friends, and everyone who knew him.
He was truly an angel on Earth, and now he soars in heaven, still smiling.
