Dolores Bernal Alcala of Dallas passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Dolores was a member of St Monica Church. Dolores was the daughter of Epifania Bernal, born on April 16, 1943, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Joe Alcala; sons, Eugene (John Forsyth) Alcala and Joe (Lisa) Alcala; daughter, Cynthia (Nesi Lopez) Alcala; grandchildren Eric (Boyan) Alcala, Stephen Alcala-Veloz, Mackenzie Alcala, Gabriela Alcala; and great-grandchildren Ruby and Eli Alcala. In addition to her mother, Dolores was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe and Victor, and is survived by her sisters Mary Jesse, Rosalinda, and Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dolores worked as a Scanner Checker at Taylor Publishing Co. for 20 years, and was a phenomenal Pastry Chef, baking beautiful wedding and quinceañera cakes along with family favorites chocolate, poppyseed, Mildred, and her specialty and top-requested strawberry cakes for 32 years. Hands down, her most rewarding and precious career was being the BEST wife to Joe, the unwavering, WONDERFUL mother to her two sons and daughter, EXCEPTIONAL grandmother to her 4 grandchildren, and the 'BESTEST EVER' great-grandmother to two little ones whom she adored and who adored her.
Visitation will be at Hughes Family Tribute Center, 9700 Webb Chapel Rd., Dallas, TX 75220 on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. with Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Monica Catholic Church, 9933 Midway Rd, Dallas, TX 75220 at January 14, 2023 at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
