Elwin Douglas Crook, 97, beloved Father, was called to his eternal resting place on November 22, 2022. He entered this world on May 14, 1925 in Owenton, Kentucky, born to Luther and Etta Lee Crook. He spent many years serving in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War, he was a hero to both his country and his family. He served as a fighter pilot during his time in the Army, earning the handle "Sidewinder". He also served his community as a police officer. Elwin is remembered as a jokester who loved crossword puzzles and his beloved family.
Those missing him on Earth include his children, daughter, Terry Wyatt and her husband, William Wyatt; daughter, Donna Alcala-Martinez; son, Steve Crook; daughter, Ann Brighton and her husband, John Brighton; son, Mike Crook; daughter, Carlene O'Bryant and her husband, Michael O'Bryant; daughter, Mary Pate and her husband, Danny Pate; his sister, Joyce Mayle of Martinsville, Indiana; as well as 21 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Elwin will be joining in Heaven with his beloved wife, Ruth Carlene Crook; his parents, Luther and Etta Lee Crook; his sibilings, Rita Crook, Linda Borden, Lanny Crook, and Melvin Crook; and his son-in-law, Gilberto Martinez.
Pallbearers include Steve Crook, Guillermo Guerra, Cameron Alcala, William Wyatt, Gary Burnett, and David Chantaca.
