It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Pete Mavrokordatos, who left us peacefully on August 17th, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer at 69 years old. Pete lived a life marked by love, dedication, and remarkable achievements.
Born and raised in Larnaca, Cyprus, Pete immigrated to the United States in 197 5where he pursued a doctorates degree in economics. He became a beloved professor of economics, where he made an indelible impact on countless students and colleagues. His intellect, kindness, and dedication to education will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to learn from them.
As a devoted husband of 47 years to Lucy Mavrokordatos, a cherished father to Kyriacos and Stavroula, and beloved Pappou to Ava, Michael and Amelia, Pete was truly the cornerstone of their family. He embraced his role as a partner, parent and grandfather with unwavering love and commitment. The lessons he imparted through his actions and words will continue to guide and inspire his loved ones for years to come.
