George Edmond Purvis, II

George was born in Bogalusa, LA on 12/30/1949 and died while under hospice care at his home in Dallas on January 28, 2025.

George is survived by his wife, Susan Hamilton, his sister, Pam Purvis Ackerman, and so many wonderful friends, fellow teachers and students. He loved you all!

George was a Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher and was credited with bringing serious yoga to Texas beginning in 1979.

George and Susan are members of Cochran Chapel United Methodist Church. His Memorial Service will be held there in the main Sanctuary at 9027 Midway Road on March 8, 2025 at 1 pm. A reception will follow downstairs in the Fellowship Hall.
