Life Story

In Loving Memory of Helen Marie Leos

April 23, 1970 - July 21, 2023

Helen Marie Leos, a woman of boundless love and radiance, left this world unexpectedly on July 21, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, care, and unforgettable memories. Born in Dallas, TX, to Juanita and Freddie Leos, she brought a vibrant presence to every life she touched.

It is believed that Helen's heartache from losing her beloved father, Freddie Leos, in January 2022, had an immense impact on her. Her spirit remained strong, but it seems her heart yearned to be reunited with her father. Throughout her life, Helen carried on with resilience, earning the endearing nicknames "old Lady," "Nana," "Mom," and "Woman." She often used her signature phrase, "It's a Helen Thing - you wouldn't understand," adding a touch of mystery and charm to her personality.

Helen's life was one of extravagance and love. She adorned herself with elegance and enjoyed the sparkle of life. Comparable to a modern-day Marilyn Monroe and a real-life Betty Boop, she had a unique allure that captivated everyone around her.

Her love knew no bounds, as she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She was always there to lend a helping hand, generously supporting her loved ones with groceries, gas, or even paying rent, without ever expecting anything in return. She was a nurturing and protective "momma bear" who fiercely shielded her family from any danger or disrespect.

Helen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a keen eye for a good deal and enjoyed shopping at the dollar store, Dee Dees, and Ross. As a true Texan, she cherished her city of Dallas, and the State Fair of Texas was an event she never missed. Her passion for sports ran deep, and she was a dedicated fan of the Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers, and Stars.

Life with Helen was an everlasting party, and fun seemed to follow her wherever she went. Her vivacious spirit lit up every gathering, and laughter echoed in her wake. Cooking was another one of her talents, and her family cherished the taste of her homemade flour tortillas, chicken enchilada casserole, and chicken spaghetti.

Christmas held a special place in her heart, and she made sure her loved ones had a merry celebration. Her signature Christmas meal of brisket, menudo, charro beans, corn, shrimp cocktail, Mexican hot chocolate and Mexican sweet breads were a treat everyone looked forward to every year. When she wasn't cooking, she delighted in ordering from Uber Eats, generously rewarding good service with excellent tips.

Helen's favorite treats included donuts, popcorn, ice cream, Crush Watermelon, and sunflower seeds, all of which perfectly complemented her salty-sweet personality. A recent trip to Port Aransas, Texas, with family became a cherished memory, filled with laughter, water, sand, and a delightful crawfish boil.

Leaving behind a grieving yet grateful family, Helen is survived by her son Eduardo Anthony Sanchez, Jr., and his spouse Joia Sanchez, her daughter Elexis Anastasia Sanchez, her adored grandchildren Helios Sanchez, Harley Sanchez, Xavier Lopez, and Kal-el Franco; and godson Izaiah Reyes. Her mother, Juanita Leos, will miss her dearly, along with her siblings Freddie Leos, Jr., Debra Ann Gonzales and her spouse Felipe Gonzales, Natalia Louise Martinez and her spouse Alfred Martinez, Jr., Vanessa Inez Romo and her spouse Amador Romo, Jr., and Sarah Carrillo and her spouse Manuel Carrillo.

In heaven, Helen reunites with her father Freddie Leos, her son Gerardo Xavier Sanchez, and big sister Patrcia Ann Leos where their love will continue to shine down on those they left behind.

Visitation to celebrate Helen's life will be held on Tuesday, August 1, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Hughes Family Tribute Center. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, August 2, at 10 am. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved father at Calvary Hill Cemetery, a place where her spirit will find eternal peace.

Helen Marie Leos was a remarkable woman who touched countless hearts with her unwavering love, generosity, and sparkling personality. She will forever be remembered and cherished by all those whose lives she enriched. May her light continue to shine in the hearts of those she loved, and may her spirit find solace in the embrace of her beloved father in the eternal realm.

"Though you may be gone from our sight, you will never be absent from our hearts."
