It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Joseph Woods, a loving father, husband, and son who brought his sarcastic good nature everywhere he went. Joseph passed on June 9th, 2023, in Paradise, Texas.
Born on December 11, 1990, Joe was the beloved only son of Debra Woods. From the moment he entered this world, Joe brought Debra immeasurable love and happiness. His grandfather Lewis played a pivotal role in his life as a father figure. In his early years, Joe could be found running around his grandparent's local corner store or making runs to the bank with his grandfather.
Joseph attended Baylor University, graduating with his Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems. It took him longer than most, 5 years, but he was having too much fun to leave. He made many lifelong friends during his time in Waco.
After graduating, Joe moved to the Kansas City area, where he met his wife, Keller. They moved back to the Dallas area in 2017 and married in 2020. They welcomed their son, Henry, into the world in February 2023.
Joseph was a creative person and loved working with his hands. He could often be found working on his home, from kitchen renovations to putting down new grass in the backyard. Joe was always daydreaming of his next big project for the house that he loved.
Joe had a deep passion for music and would often choose his daily playlist based on his mood. He would listen to almost anything, but loved pop punk, emo, and alternative. He was a music snob and quick to judge anyone for their choice in music.
Joe's first love was sports. In high school, he played football, lifted weights, and ran track. He played flag football, pickup basketball, and recreational hockey in his free time. Joseph loved watching sports. He hated to love the Dallas Cowboys and also loved watching the Dallas Stars. Joe was known to yell at the TV during games and frequently had to put away jerseys he believed were "cursed."
Joseph was a new dad and took this job very seriously. He made a point to never hold any babies before his own. He bought Henry way too many books and toys and was so proud that he was born in the great state of Texas. He was so looking forward to his son growing up and being able to run around and play with him. He had dreams of coaching any sports Henry became interested in.
Joe will be remembered for his snarky smile, amazing laugh, and extremely sarcastic personality. He will be remembered for his bedtime stories with his son, fantastic daydreaming, endless trips to the hardware store, and his love for the state of Texas.
Joseph is survived by his son Henry Woods, his wife Keller Woods, and his grandmother Irene Wood. He is joined in death by his mother Debra Woods. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Lewis Wood.
