Margaret Ramirez Fernandez was a deeply giving person, an overcomer, and a survivor. She never met a stranger.
She was born on June 1, 1926, in Dallas, Texas,
Raised in West Dallas near the cement plant off Hampton and Singleton
She made it to the 5th grade and as a teen her parents took her to the dances, where they were members of a local Hispanic social group. Her journey was one of hard work and sacrifice. From working in the fields pulling cotton and onions with her parents until her teens. At the age of 15 she worked at a dress factory and worked with her future mother in law who would later introduce her to her son.
She married Rudolfo Amaya Fernandez, at age 18, and they raised seven children. She was married 25 years. Though life brought challenges, including becoming a single mother and making ends meet on her own, she always sacrificed for her children, ensuring they had what we needed.
As a single parent she purchased a home for $12000.00. Which was an accomplishment.
She had the garage converted to an apartment that helped her financially for many years especially during her retirement years.
She never gave up, and even in her final days, she found the strength to hold on to her routines and show her enduring spirit. She would get up at 6am for breakfast up until 2 days before she passed.
Margaret cherished her family. She loved to cook for visitors. She found joy in planting flowers and caring for her roses She would always say she was blessed and that God had been good to her.
In the final chapter of her life, even as her body grew weaker, she remained resilient. She had been on hospice care for only one ½ month, and we thank God for answering our prayers that she would not suffer. She passed away peacefully on Sunday January 11, 2026. She left this world just as she lived in it—full of courage and faith.
Margarita “Margaret” Ramirez Fernandez was a true survivor, a giver, and a pillar of our family. We thank God for the peaceful transition He granted her, and we celebrate her life knowing she is now at rest, watching over us with the same love she always gave.
