On March 18th 1930, Mary Edith Reed was born to Robert Lee and Martha Jane Perkins. She joined her brothers RL and R. C and sisters Doris Lenora and Florene.
On November second 1945, she met Olin Diar Reed, while she was walking a picket line for this sewing room where she worked. Olin had just gotten out of the Army from World War 2, he was sitting on the steps of the bank. And she was walking back-and-forth. He told her when she finished. He wanted to talk to her, and told her he was going to marry her. She said, I don't think so! She told him she already had a boyfriend who was in the Army. He told her to write him a Dear John Letter. Needless to say three weeks later, he gave her $100 to buy a dress and shoes and they got married on November 22nd 1945.
She had Olin Diar Jr or Skip, on April 24th 1947. She then had Ronald Dawson on August 23rd 1949. On September 2nd 1953, she had Sherry Denise, and on February 21st 1964, she had Norman Dennis. She was born again on August 5th 1954. From that day on, she served the Lord faithfully, sharing her testimony and witnessing even in her last days.
Every hospice nurse and staff member was asked if they knew Jesus and if not Mary would lead them in the Sinners prayer, leading one of her care takers to Jesus. With a loud shout she called Sherry into the room to introduce her to her new sister in Christ.
Mary was also a gifted and talented lady. She could paint beautiful pictures, wrote several songs poems and stories. She made quilts, crocheted all kinds of beautiful things like baby blankets and coat hangers. Mary was a career LVN for 40 years, she also served women 10 years as one that elected to become CNA at 1st Assembly in Hillsboro Texas. She has always had the gift to teach and serve the Lord. She has always set a great godly example for children and grandchildren. She was loved greatly by everyone.
