Mary Luisa Salazar's life was marked by resilience and love. Born on August 19, 1925, in La Meza, Texas, to Antonia Ortiz and Pedro Varela, she faced challenges early on. Life took her from La Meza to Houston and later to Dallas.
Despite all her hardships, Mary worked tirelessly as a seamstress to contribute to the support of her family.
Throughout her life, Mary remained a devoted daughter, caring for her mother until the very end.
Mary Luisa Salazar is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pedro Salazar, and her children Minerva, Juana, Abel, and David, as well as her parents. She is survived by her sons Alex and Alfred, and daughters Olga, Irene, and Joann. Mary leaves behind a legacy of survival and strength, evident in her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Her life will be celebrated at a visitation on Monday, January 21, 2024, from 5 pm to 8 pm at Hughes Family Tribute Center. Mary Luisa Salazar will be laid to rest next to Pedro Salazar at Laurelland Cemetery on Tuesday, January 22, 2024, at 2 pm.
