Ollie Lee (Jones) Erwin
May 8, 1925 – January 30, 2026
Ollie Lee Erwin, 100, of Richardson, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026.
Born on May 8, 1925, in Lumberton, Mississippi, Ollie was the youngest daughter of Ottis Decatur Jones and Myrtle Ophelia Landress Jones. Her twin brother, Ottis Dee—the eldest son—was born alongside her, making them the fourth and fifth of the couple’s eight children. Ollie outlived all her siblings. Raised in a close-knit Southern family, she later set out on her own path.
After graduating high school, Ollie moved to Pampa, Texas, to work at her uncle's restaurant. There, she met her future husband, Bill Moss Erwin Sr., and they married. Together they welcomed two children: Sandra Lucille and Bill Moss Jr. As a devoted housewife, Ollie poured her heart into raising her family. Later, she pursued a career as a beautician at Sanger Harris, bringing beauty and warmth to many. Following her divorce after 25 years of marriage, she worked as a cashier at Kroger, where she retired after years of friendly service and smiles.
Ollie lived a vibrant, active life filled with simple joys. She loved square dancing, cooking and baking delicious meals for loved ones, playing cards, and working puzzles. Above all, she cherished time with family and friends, always ready with a warm welcome and genuine care. A faithful member of Northrich Baptist Church, she treasured the fellowship, worship, and community she found there.
Ollie is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lucille Burda; son, Bill Moss Erwin Jr. and his wife Karrie; grandchildren Joseph Matthew Burda (wife Becca), Christy Renee Burda Smith (husband Lance), and Eric James Erwin (wife Kelsey); and great-grandchildren Cooper Cole Smith, Presley Victoria Burda, Hope Abigail Burda, and Jackson James Erwin.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Hughes Family Tribute Center, 9700 Webb Chapel Rd., Dallas, TX. A funeral service will follow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the same location. A procession to Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX, for burial will immediately follow the service.
In honoring Ollie's faith and steadfast life, the family finds comfort in 2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV): “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Ollie's century of love, laughter, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
