Phillip Hernandez Alardin Jr., born on January 12, 1940 (85), in Dallas, TX departed this earthly life on July 3, 2025, in Thornton, CO, after a brief illness. He was the beloved son of Jose Felipe Marin and Elena Hernandez Alardin. He is preceded in death by his wife Sara Ann, parents Felipe and Elena Alardin, and his beloved son David S. Alardin, sister Victoria Alardin Zapata (Frank Reyna) and brother Pedro Guzman Alardin (Guadalupe Sandoval).
Phillip or Junior, as he was affectionately known to his family, has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but how his life was lived and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Phillip found joy in eating out with family and friends, doing yardwork, fishing, cooking, listening to music, being on the open road, caring for and nurturing animals. He loved being outside in the sun. No matter how hot it was, he would spend hours outside pulling weeds by hand, edging the yard and trimming the bushes. He could brag that he had one of the prettiest yards on the block. His love for mariachi music started at a young age and would continue to grow over the years. He would often listen to it as loud as his radio could play it. He enjoyed long drives on his motorcycle or in his car which reflected his adventurous and free spirit. He loved the open road and would rather drive to see everything he could, but he loved flying too. Seeing everything from 3,000 feet was always fascinating to him. In the neighborhood or while working on the road, he would often come across an injured animal or two. He would always do his best to help them recover or find their way back home. If you knew Phillip, you knew he could be spicy from time to time, but you also knew he had an infectious smile and had an unwavering commitment to spread kindness and compassion to everyone he encountered. He often helped families stranded on the side of the road, bringing them home for a hot meal and a safe place to rest out of the cold or heat. He would often go back and help to fix their automobiles so they could get back on the road. He helped a lot of people on the road and always made time to help others in need. He loved people and to be surrounded by them.
Phillip is survived by his children Phillip H. Alardin II of Dallas, TX; Cynthia S. Alardin of Thornton, CO and Shirley Lane (Keith) of McKinney, TX; siblings Arthur H. Alardin, Raymond H. Alardin, and Maria Elise Alardin Garcia; grandchildren David D. Alardin Jr., Lisa Marie Alardin (Rudy Perez), Christine E. Alardin, Alicia Y. Alardin, Stephanie Alardin and Tucker Richardson, and seven great-grandchildren which included Elizabeth, Christopher, Miracle, Jazmine, Jacob, Noah, and April. He also had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved deeply. Family was everything to him, no matter how long they hadn't seen each other. They always picked up where they left off.
Phillip graduated from N R Crozier Technical High School in Dallas, TX. He started welding at a young age and found that he enjoyed it and was good at it. He found work with Gifford-Hill American as a shop welder and went on to become a Field Superintendent. He worked for Gifford-Hill for 28 years upon his retirement. He loved his job and was committed to it. He would often drive all night whatever town needed his help to cut into the pipeline and ensure that the town residents had water by the time they woke up. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee, often sharing his knowledge with other superintendents in the field.
Although Phillip's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion for others in all that we do. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your favorite animal rescue / shelter or to plant a tree or garden in his memory.
