Priscilla Valdez Life Story

On Sunday, October 23, 2022, Priscilla Gutierrez Valdez, loving Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, and friend passed away at age 78.

Priscilla was born on September 13, 1944, in Dallas, TX to Saul and Inez Gutierrez. She grew up in the barrio of Little Mexico.  She was a young housewife and mother for many years, prior to her divorced. She got her GED through operation SER and trained in the medical field. She also studied interior design at El Centro college. Priscilla started her career as a single mother raising three children. She worked at a range of jobs including Blue Cross Blue Shield and UT Southwestern as a medical coder.

Priscilla always liked to look her best; she was very fashionable in her "High Heels", makeup and jewelry. She had a passion for music, singing, and dancing. Tejano music and Vicente Fernandez were her favorites. Her prized possession was a collection of porcelain dolls. She loved animals, especially her cats - all 10 of them! She cheered on the Dallas cowboys. Her favorite pastime was karaoke and casinos.

She was very resourceful, strong, and independent, a go getter. She was very thrifty; always scrimping and saving and managed to buy three homes in her lifetime.
Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, who she loved with all her heart.
Priscilla was a giver, although she didn't have much. She gave from her heart, mostly to the homeless and various charities such as Shriners and Disabled American Veterans.

Priscilla was preceded in death by her father, Saul; and her mother, Inez; her children Troy Valdez and Michael Valdez Garcia; her brothers, Richard Gutierrez and Raul Gutierrez; and her sister Ruth Duron. She is survived by her three Children Cynthia Valdez, Bruno Valdez Jr and Vincent Valdez; her grandchildren Jacob Valdez, Joseph Valdez and James Valdez; her brothers Raymond Gutierrez, Larry Gutierrez; her sister Linda Gutierrez; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Life Celebration in her honor will be held at Hughes Tribute Center on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 1 pm.  Visitation and reception will follow until 4 pm.

Priscilla will be remembered for her joyous giving spirit and zest for life

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
