Pushpa Ejner Life Story

Pushpa “Pushpuji” Ejner

Pushpa Ejner, adoringly called “Pushpuji” by her grandchildren departed her loving family on February 7, 2021.

Pushpa was born in Kolithad, India in 1944 to Girjashankar and Labhkuvar Joshi.

Pushpa was mother to Neha and Mihir Ejner, whom she raised with so much love, tenderness and endless patience alongside her husband Dinesh Ejner.

Pushpa grew up in India and later in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where she completed her English Board matriculation examinations for Cambridge and A Level Education. She went on to study in the UK, completing her Nursing qualification at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmonds and her Midwifery qualification in London at St Heliers Hospital. She returned to India to practice nursing, and soon after, in 1974, met and married her husband. The newlyweds embarked on a journey into the unknown, crossing the world to start a new life in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

As a nurse, Pushpa was known for her dedication, respect, compassion for patients and professional expertise. Her specialties included Labor and Delivery and High-Risk Obstetrics, which she practiced at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton and at the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Physicians and team members often relied on Pushpa’s opinions and assessments in difficult cases given her knowledge and aptitude. She helped bring life to the world, not only to those she served over her 40-year career, but also to those she touched throughout her life.

Pushpa was a passionate cook and did not hesitate to try her hand and any cuisine. Her culinary skills would amaze and satisfy those she fed. Her other hobbies included Sudoku, knitting, reading and watching basketball. She was an avid Mavericks fan. Pushpa was well known for her generosity and those that met her found solace in her endless optimism. Pushpa loved being near the water, she found serenity in watching the ocean tide and enjoyed meditating on the rain.

Pushpa is survived by her husband Dinesh Ejner, her two children Neha and Mihir Ejner, her daughter in-law Sonal Ejner, her two grandchildren Mila and Sachin Ejner, her sisters Daksha Raval and Harshida Bhatt and her brother Vasant Joshi.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
