Robert Talkington Life Story

Robert Talkington was an especially creative young man, very musically gifted as well as an actor and poet. As a teenager, he taught himself acoustic, electric and bass guitar exploring a wide range of musical styles especially punk, reggae, ska, blues, and classic rock. At the age of 15, he was accepted to the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. It was at Booker T where he really thrived. While there he began acting, kept a journal and crafted a volume of poetry and lyrics in addition to pursuing his interests in music.

Rob was also an incredibly kind and generous soul with a big heart. He was open-minded and non-judgmental, having friends from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances. He was always willing to help a friend in need and would often invite a friend home for dinner when he knew they may not have a warm dinner at home. He had a quick wit and dry sense of humor, bringing knowing smiles and laughs when making his wry observations.

In 1985 Rob was involved in a serious car accident, suffering a brain injury that left him disabled for the rest of his life. Although Rob was never able to walk again on his own after the accident and had difficulty talking, he brought joy into his family’s life and those around him every day for the next 34 years. One of his favorite activities was going to the professional wrestling matches the old “World Famous” Dallas Sportatorium. He kept his sense of humor, and his smile and laughter were infectious. His life and his ability to persevere are a true testament to the human spirit.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
