Stevan Cuellar Ruiz, beloved husband, father, and community pillar, passed away peacefully at home on May 15, 2024, in Lancaster, Texas, at the age of 73. Born on June 9, 1950, in Dallas, Texas to Charles and Nora Ruiz, Stevan lived a life full of love, dedication, and honor.
Stevan was the devoted husband of Esther Ruiz, with whom he shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built not only a family but also a legacy by way of their award winning bodacious BBQ restaurant in Duncanville, Texas. Stevan and Esther's establishment drew patrons from across the country, creating a community space filled with the aroma of delicious food and the sounds of laughter and conversation. He was a saxophone player for South Oak Cliff High School marching band and an accomplished member of the R.O.T.C. where he proudly served as Rifle Team Commander, Military Band Commander, and Expert Rifleman.
Stevan's attention to detail and meticulous approach to his craft set him apart from others. Whether he was working with wood, food, his rifle, or playing his saxophone, he always strived for perfection in every project he undertook. His creativity and problem-solving abilities were unmatched, and he had a knack for turning ordinary materials into extraordinary works of art.
In addition to his technical skills, Stevan also had a natural talent for bringing people together. His warm personality and sense of humor made him a joy to be around, and he had a way of making everyone feel welcome and included. He was always willing to lend a hand or offer advice, and his generosity knew no bounds.
A faithful servant of the Lord, Stevan's life was a testament to his strong faith and unwavering commitment to his beliefs. His actions spoke volumes, as he continuously embodied the principles of kindness, generosity, and humility in all his endeavors.
Above all, Stevan loved his family deeply. He cherished every moment spent with them, and his greatest joy came from being surrounded by his loved ones. His wisdom, guidance, and unconditional love were constants in the lives of his children and grandchildren, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
