Suresh Shrestha Life Story

PFC Suresh Shrestha, CBRN Specialist was called “SHREDDER” in his platoon. Suresh was a very smart and brave solder; he did the best in his field training exercises (FTX); and was always passionate about being in the army. He accomplished his passion of becoming a serviceman by graduating from the US Army Basic Training on October 10, 2019. During his training, he earned the US Army’s Sharpshooter badge. He was known as the best soldier who always surprised his sergeants and fellow soldiers and buddies with his work ethic. He was very hard working and a dedicated soldier who would do whatever he could to make his work the best. He was very much encouraged by the code of excellence and award he would get now and then for his strength and honor which motivated him to believe in himself. The striker he was assigned to at his work is now named after his nickname “SHREDDER” which is the testament of how memorable he and his work are.

According to his commanding officer, “Suresh Shrestha was an accomplished CBRN Soldier assigned to 172D CBRN Company in Fort Riley, KS. He was assigned as an NBC Reconnaissance and Surveillance “Recon” survey and Driver. He was loved by his military family and well respected by his chain of command and his peers”.

Suresh died on November 21, 2020 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Enid Oklahoma due to head and internal torso injuries suffered during his car crash with a Semi – 18 Wheeler in Parry Oklahoma.

PFC Suresh was the best soldier as well as an incredible human being. He had the purest and the most innocent soul who never hurt anyone in his life. He was always ready with his helping hands and a big smile on his face. He always had positive attitude in both good and bad times and he never forgot to put his BIG SMILE on his face. He was born to be a warrior and was brave to face any situation; he never gave up.

Suresh was an awesome son to his mother Krishna Kumari Shrestha and father Min Bahadur Shrestha. He was a very supportive and loving brother to his sister Kamala Shrestha and his brother Ujjwal Shrestha. He was very close to his grandmother and loved her so much. He was a very caring and loving husband of Sumina Sunar.
Suresh was born on December 6, 1996 in Gorkha district of Nepal. He always felt responsible of how he was representing his birthplace by doing awesome work. He was proud of his roots. He came to United States in December 2016 from his native country, Nepal. After receiving him from DFW International Airport on his first day in the US, his uncle Bishnu Shrestha asked him, Suresh what do you want to do here? He answered he wanted to join the US Army.

While, all Shrestha families and friends are sadden by this tragic loss, and nothing will fill this void of his untimely demise, we the Shrestha family and his friends and his US Army family are at ease to say final good byes becuase he was able to fulfill his passion and live the dream even for a short while.

May his beautiful soul rest in peace!
