Uriel Hinojosa was born on August 5, 1964, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Ana Maria Juarez and Eleazar Hinojosa. He was the oldest of ten children raised in a hardworking, close-knit family. From the time he was small, Uriel had an energy that could not be contained. Always on the move, he eagerly pitched in on the family's land outside of town-learning the rhythms of the soil and the discipline of the harvest. Together with his father, he grew black and pinto beans, tended apricot trees, and learned to drive the tractor and repair engines. These lessons of perseverance, skill, and love became the foundation of the man he grew to be.

Uriel never sat still. His hands were always busy, his heart always full. Whether he was working on cars or landscaping yards, he approached every task with excellence. In his most recent role, he worked as a landscaper at the George W. Bush Presidential Library at SMU-a job he deeply enjoyed. It was there that he developed a light-hearted friendship with Laura Bush, who often complimented his green thumb and the beauty of the grounds he so lovingly maintained.

Uriel loved cars-especially his 1972 red and white Ford F100, which he cared for faithfully for more than 30 years. That truck wasn't just transportation-it was part of his story. It carried tools, plants, and memories. And it will carry him one last time, as he is taken to his final resting place in the back of his beloved truck.

But Uriel's proudest work was not in the fields or on the job-it was in the lives he touched. He met Maria Trinidad Ceballos in Mexico, and from the start, he was smitten. She was beautiful and kind, and together they built a marriage grounded in faith, love, and mutual respect. Over nearly 40 years of marriage, they raised a family who knew the value of hard work, the joy of laughter, and the presence of God.

When his children married, Uriel welcomed their spouses with open arms. He adored them, respected them, and treated each of them as if they were his own sons and daughters.
Uriel was a strong and joyful Christian who lived his faith daily. It was common to see a child nestled in his arms at church-his affection for children was natural and magnetic. His ability to mix love and discipline made him a trusted presence in the lives of many. He offered help wherever he could, and was known by all as someone you could count on-quick to smile, quicker to lend a hand.
In 2001, Uriel and his family made the courageous journey to the United States, seeking a better life. He carried with him the same values he'd been raised with: faith, family, and an unstoppable work ethic. He poured those values into his children and later into his beloved grandchildren. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his 14 grandchildren, who lovingly called him Abuelo or Abuelito.

Uriel also loved fútbol-especially rooting for C.F. Monterrey. Whether celebrating a win or shaking his head at a loss, he remained a passionate and loyal fan. He proudly shared that love and passion with his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories through spirited game nights and team traditions.

Those who knew Uriel will remember him for his big heart, his hands that never stopped working, his arms that were always open to children, and his enduring faith. He leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, service, and strength.

Uriel is survived by his beloved wife Maria Trinidad, his five devoted children: Uriel, Roel, Ana, Erika, and Ezequiel, his sons-in-law Rosendo and Cecilio, daughters-in-law Mariana, Laura, and Alicia, and his fourteen adored grandchildren: Isai, Uzziel, Nathanael, Mariel, Jacob, Misael, Nephtali, Rebeca, Israel, Jonathan, Raquel, Manases, Abdiel, and Leah. Their lives are forever blessed by the example he set and the love he gave.

Desde pequeño, Uriel tenía una energía imparable. Siempre en movimiento, ayudaba con entusiasmo en el terreno familiar fuera del pueblo-aprendiendo los tiempos de la tierra y la disciplina de la cosecha. Junto a su padre, sembraba frijoles negros y pintos, cuidaba los chabacanos, y aprendió a manejar el tractor y a arreglar motores. Esas lecciones de esfuerzo, habilidad y amor fueron la base del hombre que llegó a ser.

Uriel nunca estaba quieto. Sus manos siempre ocupadas, su corazón siempre dispuesto. Ya fuera reparando autos o cortando zacate, realizaba cada trabajo con dedicación y excelencia. En su puesto más reciente, trabajó como jardinero en la Biblioteca Presidencial George W. Bush en SMU-un trabajo que disfrutó muchísimo. Allí forjó una amistad amable con Laura Bush, quien a menudo le elogiaba su 'mano verde' y el hermoso estado de los jardines.

Uriel amaba los carros-y en especial su camioneta Ford F100 roja con blanco, modelo 1972, a la que cuidó con cariño durante más de 30 años. Esa troca no era solo un vehículo-era parte de su historia. Cargó herramientas, plantas y memorias. Y ahora lo llevará una última vez, hacia su descanso eterno, en la parte trasera de su querida camioneta.

Pero la obra más importante de Uriel no estuvo en el campo ni en el trabajo-estuvo en las vidas que tocó. Conoció a María Trinidad Ceballos en México, y desde el principio quedó encantado. Ella era hermosa y bondadosa, y juntos construyeron un matrimonio lleno de fe, amor y respeto mutuo. Durante casi 40 años de casados, criaron una familia que aprendió el valor del trabajo, la alegría de la risa y la presencia de Dios.

Cuando sus hijos se casaron, Uriel recibió a sus parejas con los brazos abiertos. Los adoraba, los respetaba y los consideraba como sus propios hijos e hijas.

Uriel fue un cristiano fuerte y alegre, que vivía su fe cada día. Era común verlo con un niño en brazos en la iglesia-su cariño por los pequeños era natural y contagioso. Sabía combinar el amor con la disciplina de manera perfecta. Siempre ofrecía su ayuda, y todos lo conocían como alguien confiable-rápido para sonreír, aún más rápido para extender la mano.

En el 2001, Uriel y su familia hicieron el valiente viaje a los Estados Unidos, buscando una vida mejor. Traía consigo los valores con los que fue criado: fe, familia y trabajo incansable. Sembró esos valores en sus hijos y más tarde en sus nietos adorados. Nada le daba más alegría que pasar tiempo con sus 14 nietos, quienes con cariño le decían Abuelo o Abuelito.

También era fanático del fútbol-y especialmente del equipo C.F. Monterrey. Ya fuera celebrando una victoria o lamentando una derrota, siempre fue un seguidor apasionado y leal. Compartió ese amor con sus hijos y nietos, creando recuerdos inolvidables con noches de partido y tradiciones familiares.

Quienes conocieron a Uriel lo recordarán por su gran corazón, sus manos trabajadoras, sus abrazos siempre disponibles para los niños, y su fe inquebrantable. Deja un legado de amor, servicio y fortaleza.

Uriel deja atrás a su amada esposa María Trinidad, sus cinco hijos: Uriel, Roel, Ana, Erika y Ezequiel, sus yernos Rosendo y Cecilio, sus nueras Mariana, Laura y Alicia, y sus catorce nietos adorados: Isai, Uzziel, Nathanael, Mariel, Jacob, Misael, Nephtalí, Rebeca, Israel, Jonathan, Raquel, Manasés, Abdiel y Leah. Sus vidas están para siempre bendecidas por el ejemplo que él dejó y el amor que sembró.
